Severe and Hazardous Weather Detection and Storm Tracking
For the best detection of severe and hazardous weather, ARC recommends a polarimetric radar. Dual polarization radars provide additional detection options such as the Hydrometeor Particle Identification algorithm and Radar Echo Classifier. To thoroughly detect storms posing a threat of severe and hazardous weather, additional information provided from polarimetric observations is invaluable. The experienced ARC staff and extensive training programs offered provide the skill to maximize these resources for a user’s specific needs.
TITAN/CIDD offers a tracking feature, as well as predictive motion, for identified storm cells. Storm cells are tracked from successive volume scans. Continuity of the cells between successive scans allows a cell to be tracked and the future position is determined and displayed in TITAN/CIDD. Thus, the ARC software allows for accurate examination of the previous development and movement of a storm, as well as providing prognosticative guidance for its future impacts.
